KP produces Forged 4340 Steel Crankshafts in Three Series: Sport, Performance and Competition. Each crankshaft is produced from E4340 AQ forgings made in the USA and machined in Jackson, MI.
The Sport Series of crankshafts feature:
- Straight through oil holes similar to OEM
- Nitrided to a minimum depth of 0.012"
- Lightening holes in all four rods to reduce rotational weight and reduce or eliminate the need for heavy metal to balance
- Two step polishing process for the rod and main journal surfaces
- Held to tighter than OEM specifications
- Ideal for the racer that wants to upgrade from a casting
The Performance Series of crankshafts feature:
- Oil holes that intersect shallow oil hole pockets in the main bearings to help maximize bearing surface on the mains and improve oil flow to the rods
- Nitrided to a minimum depth of 0.012"
- Lightening holes in all four rods to reduce rotational weight and reduce or eliminate the need for heavy metal to balance
- Two step polishing process for the rod and main journal surfaces
- CNC profiled for accuracy and consistency
The Competition Series of crankshafts feature:
- Oil holes that intersect shallow oil hole pockets in the main bearings to help maximize bearing surface on the mains and improve oil flow to the rods
- Induction Hardened to a minimum depth of 0.060”
- Lightening holes in all four rods to reduce rotational weight and reduce or eliminate the need for heavy metal to balance
- Two step polishing process for the rod and main journal surfaces
- CNC profiled for accuracy and consistency
